We Built a Fan Page for a Raccoon (and a Game Too)
Jimothy the raccoon lives in Ballard. We gave him a fan page, a sighting map, a field guide, and an endless-runner game called Snack Run. Here's why.
If you live in Seattle, you have probably met Jimothy already — on your phone, if not on your lawn. He is the Ballard raccoon with the unusual, wonderful shape who went viral in July and never gave the internet back. Wildlife experts think he has short spine syndrome. He gets around just fine, and he owes nobody an explanation.
We are a renovation crew. Building things is what we do. So when the neighborhood adopted a mascot, we did the most DuetRight thing we could think of: we built him a fan page.
What's on it
duetright.com/jimothy is an unofficial, fan-made celebration — a field guide to spotting a Jimothy (small head, iconic mask, neck: not detected), a timeline of Jimothy Summer from the first known footage to the Mariners announcing Jimothy Night, and a sighting map of his Ballard beat. One pin marks roughly where the famous video happened. The rest are fan-reported and entirely unverified, which is the spirit of the whole thing.
And a video game, because of course
Snack Run is a tiny endless runner where you are Jimothy: jump the bins, duck the branches, eat snacks at a pace no actual raccoon would consider dignified. Three lives, rising speed, and the sky gets darker the longer you last. When your run ends you can share your score — the link challenges a friend to beat it, and the game keeps track of who won.
Credit where it belongs
The original video — Jimothy crossing a lawn and taking the stairs like he pays property taxes — was filmed and posted by Kiana Hall (@c1vrgr1 on Instagram). Watch it where it was posted. And per the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife: please don't approach or feed him. He is healthy, wild, and doing great without our help. Round is not a rescue situation.
Why a renovation company built this
Because we live here too. DuetRight is a small Seattle crew — bathroom and kitchen renovation is the day job — and the same care that goes into a tile layout went into getting Jimothy's proportions right in the game. Round compressed rear, long limbs, no visible neck; we checked against the source footage. Neighborhoods are why we do this work. Sometimes that means a walk-in shower. Sometimes it means a raccoon gets a fan page.
